A personal introduction — where academic work, writing, education and curiosity meet.
Resmi Prakash
I am a linguist, researcher, writer, storyteller, and environmental humanist — not necessarily in that order.
With a PhD in Linguistics from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, my academic journey began by exploring caste and language dynamics within contact language migration contexts.
Over time, my focus has shifted toward the preservation of cultural and linguistic diversity, particularly through documenting untranslatable words from endangered languages of Northeast India.
Beyond academia, I lead educational initiatives for underprivileged students through a non-governmental organisation, designing and implementing alternative, inclusive learning models rooted in empathy, environmental literacy, and storytelling.
My writing, often published in the Sunday Magazine of The Hindu, blends personal narrative with critical social reflection.
